Five Munster players to start against the Italians on Saturday

ANDREW Conway, Chris Farrell, Joey Carbery, Jean Kleyn (pictured) and Tommy O’Donnell will start for Ireland on Saturday (Aviva Stadium, 2.00) after the Ireland coaching group named the first match day 23 of the Guinness Summer Series and Ireland take on Italy. Four more, Niall Scannell, Tadhg Beirne, Mike Haley and John Ryan are named on the bench.
The game will present a major opportunity for Tommy O’Donnell to force his way into the final 31 and if Niall Scannell and Mike Haley get a chance to shine they too could stake their claim for recognition. The other Munster players named today for this first game of the new season, Conway, Farrell, Kleyn, John Ryan and Tadhg Beirne should be favourites in Joe Schmidt’s final selection.
Rhys Ruddock will captain the Ireland for the seventh occasion on Saturday and is joined in the backrow by Tommy O’Donnell at openside and Jordi Murphy at No.8. Devin Toner and the uncapped Jean Kleyn pack down at lock with Jack McGrath, Rob Herring and Andrew Porter making up the front row.
Luke McGrath and Joey Carbery fill the half-back positions with Chris Farrell and Garry Ringrose named in the centre. Jordan Larmour starts at fullback supported by Andrew Conway and Dave Kearney on the wings.
