‘Five pointed stars’ advance to the Limerick Charity Cup final

Sporting Limerick Charity Cup semi-final:
Bruff 5, Garryowen 25.
AN impressive start by the light blues set up an emphatic victory for Garryowen this afternoon. Having beaten Shannon in the previous round, the Dooradoyle side were hot favourites to march on and a penalty after 10 minutes followed by tries by Peadar Collins and Paul Clancy saw them race into a 15 point lead.
Tony Cahill was off-target with a Bruff effort before Garryowen increased their lead to 20-0 thanks to an opportunist try by Daniel Hurley. Ten minutes from time, the Garryowen pack showed the power of the previous week-end, driving over for another try while Bruff, who struggled to field a strong side due to injuries, could only muster a five pointer over the 80 minutes.
