Guinness PRO14 final in Dublin are going on sale today
- Updated: 23/08/2017
IT might be the silly season for rugby news but one had to look twice at the press release today offering tickets for sale for the first ever Guinness PRO14 Final on May 26, 2018 which is to take place in the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.
A record-breaking crowd of 45,566 witnessed history in May as Scarlets claimed their second Championship title with a thrilling 46-22 victory over Munster Rugby and this attendance figure surely influenced the decision for a return to the D4 venue.
Once again Early Bird prices will be available via www.ticketmaster.ie with Fans able to save up to 20% on selected categories while tickets start at €30 for adults and €5 for children.
Martin Anayi, CEO of PRO14 Rugby, was thrilled to announce the location: “With our expansion into South Africa and the inclusion of the Toyota Cheetahs and Southern Kings we’ve also increased the size of the Guinness PRO14 Final Series which gives six teams the opportunity to reach the knock-out stages.
“For the 2017 Final tickets were bought from across 39 countries so we know those fans will come from far and wide in the hope of seeing their team compete for the Guinness PRO14 trophy. Naturally, with the addition of the Toyota Cheetahs and Southern Kings we’ll hope to welcome fans from South Africa, too.
“When we sat down to review our options for the 2018 Guinness PRO14 Final we had a lot of interest from across the UK, Ireland and further afield. Some of those expressions of interest came from non-traditional rugby venues and while those options were appealing we needed to ensure that we put our fans first.
Oliver Loomes, Country Director, Diageo Ireland, was thrilled to reveal that the Final will once again take place in the home of GUINNESS.
He said: “Following such a successful event last year we are delighted that the final is taking place once again at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, the home of GUINNESS. We are really looking forward to watching more epic encounters with the best teams from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Italy and now South Africa throughout the competition culminating in a nail biting Final at this fantastic stadium.”
