Newcastle West shock Enniscorthy in All-Ireland Cup opener

All-Ireland Junior Cup:
Newcastle West 30, Enniscorthy 25
AFTER a wobbly start to their Munster Junior League campaign, Newcastle West bounced back with some gusto today when they beat a fancied Wexford side at Cullinagh.
Enniscorthy led 10-15 at half time and the home supporters could have been forgiven if they were resigning themselves to another defeat. The opposite proved to be the case. The ‘West’ came out with all guns blazing in the second period and tries by Darragh Tracey and Brian O’Sullivan, both converted by the reliable Sean Herlihy who also added a brace of penalties, chalked up a 20-point margin and a ticket to the next round of this national cup competition.
Dave Foley scored a first half try for Newcastle West, converted by Sean Herlihy while Tommy Kelliher kicked a penalty.
Kilfeacle also reached the next round today when they beat Monivea in the Castle Grounds.
Crosshaven are the only Munster team to win this trophy.
