Abbeyfeale snatch late win over Midleton

At Towns Park in Midleton today Abbeyfeale CC snatched a late victory over Midleton College in the Mungret Shield (U 16).

These were two evenly matched sides and duly finished the first half on three points each. However, on penalties five and fifteen minutes into the second half saw Midleton surge into a six point lead: Midleton 9 : Abbeyfeale 3.

The home side failed to close out the game and in the last minute, Abbeyfeale were on their opponents five metre line in the left corner when they were awarded a scrum. The scrum was won and after the ball was recycled four times Abbeyfeale got a touchdown under the posts through the pack. With the score Midleton 9, Abbeyfeale 8 it was all down to the last kick of the game and Abbeyfeale converted the try to win a very exciting game, Midleton College 9, Abbeyfeale 10.
