Old Crescent are off to a winning start

IT is early season yet, but Old Crescent’s shock win over Shannon in Coonagh last night is already sending ripples of confidence throughout Rosbrien.
Boosted by the return of Brendan Guilfoyle, the 18-13 victory was a deserved one and showed that Crescent are in determined mood to move out of the lower regions of the AIL.
According to a Crescent source, the win was “emphatic” while the Parish camp are quick to point out that they fielded a young and mostly experimental side.
The Crescent scorers in an entertaining game were Shane O’Brian with two penalties and one convert, and a try each by Cathal O’Reilly, captain on the night, and Brendan Guilfoyle.
“It was great to see Gillie back in Crescent colours,” our source said adding that another Thomond recruit to Rosbrien, Alex Simpson, was also impressive.
Crescent will now meet the winners of Garryowen and Thomond in the semi-final.
