With the announcement of the initial Lions squad due to be announced in 16 days, Warren Gatland will be hoping that Conor Murray will be back into action well before that date. The Garryowen man’s shoulder injury continues to be monitored by Munster’s medical staff but it seems unlikely that he will start against Glasgow Warriors this coming week-end.
Updates on the other members of the ‘walking wounded’ following the physical clash with Toulouse last Saturday were announced today. CJ Stander’s ankle sprain will be further assessed, Peter O’Mahony and Dave Kilcoyne (dead legs) and Keith Earls (back strain) are due back to training this week while Ian Keatley is also expected back on the training pitch as his knee injury shows improvement. Good news also about Francis Saili who is expected to get a run on Saturday.
On the negative side,
Academy out-half Bill Johnston fractured his fibula in Friday night’s B&I Cup semi-final win against Ealing Trailfinders, short-term scrumhalf signing Te Aihe Toma completes his time with the province this week and makes his return to New Zealand and continuing to rehab – Jean Kleyn (neck), Dave Foley (wrist), Ian Keatley (knee), Sean McCarthy (knee), Mike Sherry (back).
