GARRYOWEN maintaned their AIL 1A status with a win over UL Bohemian in Dooradoyle today but there was no joy for Old Crescent, who went down to Armagh in the battle for the last place in 2A next season. Crescent went 11-0 down after 35 minutes but gave themselves a lifeline before the break with a Shane O’Brien penalty.
Eight minutes into the second half Armagh went 14-3 up with a penalty but a try on 55 minutes from Brendan Guinfoyle, converted by Shane O’Brien set up an exciting finish with the Limerick visitors trailing by just four points, 14-10. Armagh sealed their 2A status two minutes later with a seven pointer. Old Crescent lined out: Larry Hanley; Cathal Monaghan, Paul McNamara, Brian Tuohy, Val McDermott; Shane O’Brien, Garett Quinn-McDonagh; Seoghan Gleeson, Darragh O’Brien, Shane Murphy; Kevin Doyle, Padraigh Monaghan; Sean Monaghan, Jack O’Neill, Brendan Guilfoyle.
