Death of Shannon’s Michael Noel Ryan

IT is with sadness that we report the death of one of the best known members of Shannon RFC, Michael Noel Ryan, after a short illness.
Michael captained the Shannon team that won the Munster Senior Cup in 1960 when they beat UCC after a replay at Thomond Park. An outstanding prop, his two brothers, Jack and Jimmy, also played in the Shannon colours and Michael continued to support his club, being an ever-present at home games for many seasons at Coonagh and Thomond Park.
A member of a highly respected Parish family, we offer our deepest sympathy to Michael’s relatives and close friends.
Funeral arrangements will be published on this site as soon as they come to hand.
