First test win for Irish in Argentina

Limerick Rugby

Argentina 15, Ireland 29: IT may not have been the full package for new boss Joe Schmidt, but his side got through their first obstacle of the new campaign tonight in Residencia.
Conceding two tries to the below strength Pumas will not have gone unnoticed on the Irish camp and they will be calling for a more complete 80 minutes when the second test takes place next Saturday.
Ireland led by a single point, 10-11 at the break and looked home and hosed with a 29-10 advantage going into the final stretch only for the hosts to snatch a late try from Tomas de la Viga. Manuel Mantero got Argentina┬┤s other try with Nicholas Sanchez kicking a penalty and conversion.
Jonathan Sexton had a good outing before going off injured in the second half. He notched a try, a conversion and a penalty with Ian Madigan coming on to kick two penalties and Andrew Trimble and Chris Henry also getting over the whitewash.
