A LOT of focus will be on Garryowen’s senior side as they sample second grade AIL rugby for their first time this season. They open their campaign with a mouth-watering meeting with Shannon in Dooradoyle on Friday week, 7.30, and that promises to be a real test of their intent to return to 1A again at the end of the campaign. This Saturday the Garryowen 3rds and friends are calling on all rugby fans to attend the Gagsy 10’s Tournament in memory of Shane Geoghegan, This year they have 18 men’s teams plus a tournament for six special needs teams as well as Bubble Football, Bouncy Castles, BBQ, beer promotions and live music in the clubhouse. The Garryowen 3rds put an awful amount of effort every year to make this a success but club support is needed to make this year an even bigger success than the previous five years that it has been running. This day is not only Garryowen’s way to remember their former captain and great clubman but also a way to raise money and awareness for special needs rugby in Ireland. The club need volunteers so please email if you are able to help out on the day. All club members are urged to join them on the day from 1.30 and in the clubhouse after for what is always a great night On the same day (this Saturday) the Charity Cup game between Bruff and Garryowen takes place in Kilballyowen, Bruff at 2.30pm.
