Garryowen get winning start as Energia AIL begins

THE Energia All Ireland League kicked off yesterday with six local clubs in action. There were mixed results from a local point of view with three wins and three defeats.
Garrowen got off to a cracking start with a home victory against Lansdowne on a 29 to 27 scoreline, the winning points coming from a try by centre Gordon Wood.
Young Munster also had a winning start. They travelled to UCD and came away with a 22-24 victory. Both games were in 1A.
In 1B Shannon took the road to Belfast but had to settle for a losing bonus point after losing to Queens, 19-13. In 2A Old Crescent were pipped at home by Cashel who took the spoils on a 34-38 scoreline. UL Bohemians had a good win over Sligo, 34-25 while Bruff went down at Kilballyowen losing 15-20 to Bruff,
