Ireland team named as typhoon still threatens World Cup fixtures

WITH Typhoon Hagibis already causing the cancellation of the England and France and Italy and New Zealand games, it appears that the final Pool game between Ireland and Samoa at the Hakatanomori Stadium in Fukuoka will miss the brunt of the storm. Ireland named their side for this game with Rory Best captaining the side and, joined in the front row by Cian Healy and Tadhg Furlong. James Ryan and Iain Henderson are partnered at lock with Tadhg Beirne, Josh van der Flier and CJ Stander named in the backrow.
Conor Murray and Johnny Sexton start in the half-backs with Bundee Aki and Robbie Henshaw named in the centre. Jordan Larmour will play full-back with Keith Earls and Jacob Stockdale supporting on the wings.
The replacements for Saturday’s game are Niall Scannell, Dave Kilcoyne, Andrew Porter, Jean Kleyn, Peter O’Mahony, Luke McGrath, Joey Carbery and Andrew Conway.

Ireland need to win with a bonus point to ensure their place in the quarter finals while the Scotland v Japan pool game remains in doubt, depending on the course taken by the oncoming typhoon. There are no surprises in the selection, it is a strong starting fifteen with  Peter O’Mahony included on a star-studded bench.
