Munster star Dan Goggin appointed backs coach at Richmond RFC

THERE is not much breaking news from the local rugby front these days but the announcement yesterday that Munster player Dan Goggin (pictured) has been appointed backs coach of junior side Richmond RFC is worth noting.
Sean Bennett, who has been associated wit the green and whites for most of his rugby career, will be head player/coach.
The Canal Bank side compete in the Munstrer Junior League division one and had recently advertised for applications to fill the posts.
Speaking to limerickrugby.ie this week Richmond RFC press secretary Natalie McNamara said that the club are very pleased with appointments:
“We are delighted to announce our junior one coaching team for the season,” she said. “and we are very fortunate to have secured the services of two excellent rugby coaches, Sean Bennett and Dan Goggin, for the coming season
“Sean is a loyal clubman and has played with us since he first took part in the mini-rugby games. He was previously head coach of our ladies’ team and will now take on the role of J1 forwards player coach.
“Our new backs coach is current Munster player Dan Goggin. Dan will be a great addition to the coaching set up and we are looking forward to seeing what he brings to the club. It’s incredible to have such a well-known player involved in the coaching set up for junior one team and there is general excitement in the club as we face into season 20/21.
“We wish Sean and Dan the best of luck for the season ahead. It’s an exciting time!”
