Newcastle West fall back to second in MJL1

AFTER suffering a 35-15 defeat today at the hands of Kilfeacle and District, Newcastle West are back in second position in division one of the Munster Junior League. Clonmel’s emphatic dismissal of the St Mary’s challenge sees the Tipperary side march back to the top while in the other game of local interest in this league, Galbally had a welcome victory over visitors Old Christians.
In division two Abbeyfeale had another impressive result, beating Youghal at the County Cork venue 13-11 while Presentation and Castleisland fought out a 20-20 thriller in Rathuard.
In the Munster 2nds League this week-end the Nenagh v Garryowen game was called off on the request of Ormond while Shannon had a 42-7 win over Richmond at the Canal Bank.
In the Gleeson League, St Mary’s beat Kilrush in Grove Island on Friday night while both the Presentation v St Senan’s game and the meeting of Richmond and Galbally were also cancelled due to different reasons.

In the under 20 SW Conference, Garryowen were beaten by Galwegians, 51-26. Scorers for the light blues were James Beary, Eoin Parkes, Kevin McInerney and Jason O’Sullivan a try each and three conversions from Conor Redmond.

In the North Munster under 18 League final, Bruff beat Newcastle West 18-17.
