IN the opening game of the Transfield Cup last night Old Crescent got the better of a very committed St Senan’s side in Jim Slattery Park to run out winners on a 32-46 scoreline.
The opening half was a close affair and there was just a single point between the sides, 26-27, after Derek Rowe landed a penalty for St Senan’s, going into the final quarter. Crescent cut loose after that to add a further 19 points while the ‘Saints’ kicked a brace of late penalties.
Next Tuesday night the Transfield Cup continues. Thomond will entertain Bruff in Liam Fitzgerald Park while Young Munster will be at home to UL Bohemian. Both games kick-off at 7.30.
