Old rivals are 16/1 to win Champions Cup 2016

By Frank Quinn

THERE may be only a two hour+ drive between them, but Munster and Leinster are still regarded as two of the biggest rivals in rugby club football. This week’s European Rugby Champions Cup pool draw has given the southern province a slightly better chance of progressing to the knock-out stages in 2016 but Leinster’s record of recent seasons has been so consistent, that they cannot be written off at this early stage.
According to bookies Paddy Power this week, both will go into the 2015/16 campaign with the same chance of lifting the trophy with Munster and Leinster quoted at 16/1 to lift the silverware next May.
Worth a few bob? Maybe!
Interestingly, Clermont, so often the bridesmaid and not the bride in this competition, are favourites to win it at 3/1 with Toulon at 9/2 and Racing Metro, Northampton and Saracens quoted at 9/1.
BETTING: Clermont 3/1, Toulon 9/2, Racing – Northampton-Saracens 9/1, Stade Francais 10/1
Toulouse and Bath 14/1, Munster and Leinster 16/1, Leicester 40/1, Glasgow 50/1
80/1 Bar,
