Richmond to hold Mental Health event in the Clubhouse on April 2
- Updated: 29/03/2019

RICHMOND RFC are holding a Mental Health and Well-Being Evening in their clubhouse in Rhebogue on Tuesday, April 2nd at 7.30pm. This is a massive event for the club, but it is not just for people involved with the local junior club but the wider community as well as all the local sports clubs: rugby, soccer and GAA.
Richmond PRO, Natalie McNamara is looking forward to the event:”It is great to see our club take the lead in starting the conversations about the serious problems that are out there affecting our members, players, families and community. We are hoping that our guest speakers will help everyone to not alone be aware of the dangers that could affect them but also make them aware of the support that is available to help fight addiction.
“We have three top sports players, Alan Quinlan, Ciaran Carey and Cathal Sheridan all providing insights into their careers as well as the highs and lows that affected them. Martin Leonard from ‘Mountain a Month for Mental Health’ will be here to share his experiences and how hiking has helped him in his life. There will also be a representative from an Garda Siochana, while Padraig Sutton and Joe Slattery from C.S.M.T will discuss the affects addiction can have on a person, their family and the community.
“There will also be time for a Q & A and Limerick Mental Health will be on hand to provide more information for anyone that wants to learn more. This is a ‘Free Event’ but we would ask that people might make a small donation on the night to our two charities for all the hard work they do: Limerick Treaty Suicide Prevention and Limerick Suicide Watch.
“Our club is hoping this event will be motivating and we invite all players over 16, families, supporters, friends and the wider community to come down to our clubhouse and listen to these challenging topics and hopefully we can work together in the future to help support people with addition.
“Looking forward to seeing you all at the event on Tuesday the 2nd of April.”
