Shannon and Thomond in Webb Cup final

THIS season’s final of the Webb Cup promises to be a cracker with city clubs Thomond and Shannon reaching the decider yesterday.
Webb Cup, Kilrush 15, Shannon 27: This was a very evenly contested affair at the Clare venue with the sides level at 15-15 after 80 minutes. Two Shannon scores in extra time saw them through to the final.
Also in the Webb Cup, Thomond had a 7-34 victory over Young Munster in Greenfields and are now favourites to lift the trophy. Plans to stage two junior finals in Thomond Park have been held up as Thomond could now be appearing in both.
In the O’Carroll Plate, St Mary’s are through to the final after beating Garryowen 16-9 in the semi-final in Grove Island yesterday afternoon.
St Mary’s under 18s share the Munster title with Carrick-on-Suir after this final failed to take place.
There are two games down for decision today with Galbally playing Waterford City in the final of the Garryowen Cup in Clonmel and the women’s division one final between Abbeyfeale and Clonmel lined up for Dooradoyle, 6pm.
Tomorrow night Richmond will play Kilfeacle and District in the semi-final of the O’Carroll Plate.
