Shannon’s Greg O’Shea helps Ireland 7s to qualification

SHANNON speedster Greg O’Shea (pictured) was one of the Ireland try scorers today as the boys in green qualified for next season’s HSBC World Rugby Sevens World Series.
The Ireland Men’s 7s will be one of the 15 core teams after defeating Hong Kong 28-7 in Sunday’s final, having seen off Germany 19-10 earlier in the semis.
Harry McNulty scored the opening Ireland try on three minutes and captain Billy Dardis converted.
Limerick’s Greg O’Shea, whose father and uncle were prominent players with Shannon in their halcyon, was next to score. Dardis again converted to put Ireland into a 14-0 lead at the break. Conroy crossed for another Irish try soon after the break with Dardis converting and Terry Kennedy broke free for his side’s fourth try, Dardis again adding the extras.
