Shannon’s Greg O’Shea will join Love Island show tomorrow

IN one of the biggest surprises of the current Love Island series, Limerick rugby player Greg O’Shea has been announced as the latest newcomer to the show. Greg is a 24-year-old professional player and the inclusion of the current Ireland Sevens international and Shannon RFC winger is sure to boost local interest in the popular series. Greg will be joining estate agent Harley Brash and model India Reynolds in the villa.
A very talented rugby player since his very young days, the former Scoil Ide student comes from a well-known Limerick rugby family. His dad Niall was an outstanding backliner with Shannon, winning a number of cup and league titles with the Parish club and the Shannon flyer comes into the show hot on the heels of Ireland 7s games in Colomiers in France last week-end in the Rugby Europe Olympic Qualification Tournament. He was one of only two Munster players named in the 13-man squad, the other being Shane Daly of Cork Constitution.
According to a post from the Love Island show, Greg will be looking for “a girl who is confident in herself, not cocky but she knows her worth. I want a girl who backs herself and someone who lives a positive lifestyle.”
Greg also revealed that his last break-up was quite a traumatic one for him, having dated the girl for four years.
He told ITV: “I saw myself marrying the last girl I was with, I was saving up for a ring but she called it a day after our lives together just didn’t work out.”
Heading onto the Island, Greg is hoping to find love again and, according to the Love Island camp, he already has his eye on fellow Irish contestant Maura Higgins.
Love Island continues at 9pm on weeknights and Sundays on ITV2.
