St Mary’s, Thomond, Newcastle West, Bruff in league and cup action

By Aidan Corr
THE junior rugby season continues this coming week-end with local clubs involved in both the league and junior cup. St Mary’s have an important fixture, they travel to Clonmel to take on the league leaders. It will be a tough test for the Grove Island side who are desperately in need of league points at the moment. It is unlikely that they will cause an upset and open up this division with a shock win but they will certainly be trying to take at least one point from the tie.
On Sunday Newcastle West have an opportunity to continue their recent good league run. They travel to play Kilfeacle, a fixture that is always guaranteed to serve up exciting fare. NCW have been in good form of late and are looking forward to the Transfield Cup decider against Abbeyfeale. They have moved up the division table with some good performances and will be fancied to record an away victory in this game.
The Bank of Ireland Munster Junior Cup also gets underway on Sunday next with Bruff hosting Killorglin and Thomond welcoming Ennis to Liam Fitzgerald Park.
