Thomond give Charity Cup walk-over to Nenagh

THOMOND became the second team in three days to fail to field a team in this season’s Limerick Charity Cup. The north city club conceded to Nenagh today but the reason for their failure to fulfill the fixture has not been made clear.
Shannon scored a late try to beat Highfield in a friendly in Coonagh. Tony ‘Mushy’ Buckley returned to the Shannon colours in this game as did tight head prop Mike Hayes, brother of Tom and John.
Unconfirmed reports from Shannon tonight indicate that their Ireland under 20 World Cup back-row Kelvin Brown (pictured) is on his way to France. It is understood that he is to join a French club within the next few weeks.
