Tonight’s defeat keeps Shannon in the 1A relegation zone

YOUNG Munster fans were breathing a sigh of relief tonight after their side secured a comfortable victory over local rivals Shannon in Tom Clifford Park. The victory puts the black and ambers into a better position in AIL 1A with one game remaining.
For Shannon, it has been a dismal week. Firstly they were deducted one point and tonight they failed to get even a losing bonus point.
In the other game in 1A, Cork Constitution had a comfortable victory over UCC, a result that sees Young Munster frog-leap over the students and UCD by two points.
In division 2A Cashel proved too strong for Old Crescent, a result that keeps Cashel in the hunt for promotion while Crescent are left to plan for another AIL season from a mid-table position
Tonight’s results from the All Ireland League and latest League Table:

Tom Clifford Park: Young Munster 33, Shannon 7
THIS win puts ‘Munsters’ into joint sixth in the table and guaranteed 1A rugby next season. They started well and led 14-0 coming up to half time with tries from Ger Slattery (pictured in a previous game) and Dan Walsh, both converted by Shane Airey. Shannon responded with a try from Nathan Randles converted by Ben Daly, but that was to be their only score of the night. A second try from Dan Walsh and one each from Alan Kennedy and Derek Corcoran, Airey converting two of them, ensured a winning bonus point for the Greenfields club.
