Winning start for Rassie’s Munster over Zebre

LAST night’s game in Waterford, watched by an estimated 2,500 fans, saw Munster get their season off to winning ways in this season’s opener. Both wings, Darren Sweetman (2) and Ronan O’Mahony scored tries with Ian Keatley landing one of the conversions. Munster led 5-0 at the break.
The game also saw a total of 12 players make their senior debuts for the province. Peter McCabe, new senior recruits John Andress and Darren O’Shea, academy players Gavin Coombes, Shane Daly, Calvin Nash, Brian Scott, Ollie Lyons and Dan Goggin, sub academy player Conor Fitzgerald and club representatives Colm O’Shea (Clontarf) and John Poland (Cork Con) all enjoyed game time.
