Munster Schools Junior Cup, Rockwell 24, Glenstal 0: Tries by Adam Maher, Michael Mulligan, Adam Buttimer and Jake Heffernan eased Rockwell through this first test of the Junior Cup today. Rory Collins kicked two conversions. Glenstal started well and finished with a good second half but they will have to improve for their next outing.
Rockwell deserved their win, they ran the ball with more authority, were faster at the breakdown and had some outstanding performances from Adam Maher, Dean Fanning and Adam Buttimer. Glenstal fought to the end but they need to improve in their next outing if they are to remain in contention.

Under 19 Munster Schools Senior Cup,
Glenstal 10, Rockwell 8: This was a cup game of real quality with a high level of skills on view from both schools. Rockwell pounded the Glen line from the ‘off’ but eventually had to settle for a three pointer, kicked from outside the 22 by out-half Jake Flannery with six minutes played. Glenstal had to withstand further periods of pressure but a booming clearance from their fly-half Ben Healy eventually got them into a scoring position.
The Abbey pounded the Rock defence in search of a try but they levelled the game at 3-3 when Ben Healy was accurate from a close-in penalty on 12 minutes.
There were two tries in the second half, one from Glenstal’s Ronan Quinn which Ben Healy converted and a late try for Glenstal by replacement Brian O’Sullivan.
Glenstal were attacking down the right flank on the Rock ten metre line, Healy tried a cross-field kick to the left wing but Quinn had the ball snapped from him by O’Sullivan who raced over 50 metres to the try line at the other end. Jake Flannery’s conversion attempt that would have levelled the tie missed the target.
