Limerick Charity Cup final:
Young Munster 40, Garryowen 6
THE score tells the story of tonight’s final in the Markets Field with the Tom Clifford Park side lifting the trophy after a one-side encounter. Garryowen fielded well below strength, one of their club members offering the opinion that they were saving their first choicers for the upcoming Bank of Ireland Munster Senior Cup final.
“Munsters’ looked sharp when they opened up play and their backline thrived on the playing conditions of the recently developed playing surface. They led 14-6 at half time, their tries coming from Alan Kennedy and Clayton Stewart both converted by Shane Airey. The second half saw the black and ambers increase the pressure and tries from Derek Corcoran, a second from Clayton Stewart and one each from Dan Walsh and Shane Airey, who converted three of the tries, resulted in Garryowen being hit for six.
