Bonus point keeps Munster in battle for URC ‘top eight’
- Updated: 22/03/2025

Glasgow 28, Munster 25
Round 13 did not bring much good fortune for Munster. They started well, went into a 12-0 lead thanks to two tries from Sean O’Brien and a John Hadnett touch down, and things were looking bright. Then it swung in favour of the home side and at 14-15 in favour of Munster, this game was always going to go down to the wire. O’Brien’s second try, converted by Rory Scannell, pushed the Munster lead to 14-25 and the tv commentators were forecasting an Irish victory. It was not to be, with a try from Fagerson which reduced the lead to 21-25 followed by what proved to be the winner, McBeth reading a gap in the Munster defence to touchdown and Adam Hastings popping over what proved to be the winning score.
There were individual good performances from Tony Butler, Ben O’Connor and O’Brien but maybe this was too much to ask from what was close to a second string side.
The result now puts pressure on Munster to bounce back and get an away win over Connacht next week-end. Friday’s single point sees them drop to sixth with several fixtures to come over this week-end.
