I KNEY that I would need to do this and I dreaded it, even though it is superfluous. As you have seen us win our games in three rounds and made up your own mind, Ireland have the upper hand on the basis of their last two games.
The Permutations Game, the ‘What IF’ Game. is still all up in the air. For the first Super Saturday games on the 8th March, and followed up by the real Super Saturdays at the end of the Championship, here are the permuations. If we beat France and then Italy in Rome it’s game over and the Irish reap the Grand Slam with the Six Nations and the Triple Crown and we will be calling for Simon Easterby to be President.
If we beat France and then beat Italy in Rome, Its game Over . We take the Grand Slam, the 6N Championship and the Triple Crown. The lot, And Simon Easterby for President.
But what If : France (on 11 points) beat us, and we get a BP there will be No Grand Slam winner in 2025. France need to beat Scotland , the Standard win over us both is 8 points France, they could have a possible total +19 Points. Ireland (on 14 points ) one BP against France and five point win over Italy – Possible Ireland Total 20 points.
England (10 points) – two games to play against Italy and Wales. Be generous and give them 9 points from both games. England have a possible total of 19 points. It’s a wintery cold Summary, so:
A. We win the Grand Slam game against France, we beat Italy and collect all the goodies which go with it in the Holy City, on a holy Saturday
B. We lose to France, We win the Championship : We miss out on the Grand Slam, Get a bonus point against France, and win the last game in Rome, we collect some Goodies
C. if we lose to France and miss out on the BP in the French game, We join the other two contenders to fight it out on paper for the Championship.
