Glasgow deserved victory but credit to fighting Munster

MUNSTER never gave up the fight in tonight’s URC clash in Scotstoun but the home side were strong enough to dominate in the latter stages. The province bossed the early stages but it was the home side who raced ahead with a brace of converted tries, from Ollie Smith and Josh McKay. To their credit. Munster replied when Ethan Coughlan intercepted in midfield and touched down at the other end. Tony Butler failed with the conversion against the strong wind to make the score 14-5 after 12 minutes. Tries from Lancaster and Josh McCay boosted the score in favouor of Glasgow and the 28-5 bonus point was already ensured before the half time whistle. The Warriors were a disallowed an try early in the second half and the tables began to change with Dan Kelly intercepting and racing in for Munster’s second try on 51 minutes.
Gavin Coombes made a short impact as the second half began and Munster but the Reds got a second try, Brian Gleeson charging over but the conversion went wide. With the score 28-15, there was a hint of a recovery for the visitors and Diarmuid Kilgallen’s try, converted by Wood to cut the lead dowm to 28-22. Glasgow responded, deciding to add a penalty and they played out the rerst of the game in the Munster half of the field. The Warriors were no doubt a better side but the manner but full credit to Munster fir their second half rally.
