It was a good day for Limerick’s junior rugby teams

WITH the Munster Junior Leagues heading towards its finish, Limerick clubs were keen to pick up points from their remaining fixtures.
In division one top of the table Thomond kept up their winning streak and St Mary’s had a narrow win, beating Sunday’s Well.
Newcastle West are showing great form in recent weeks and they recorded a 19-13 victory over Muskerry. They led 12-3 at the break thanks to tries by Sean Murphy and Shane Airey who also kicked a conversion The second half proved to be a nail-biter for the home fans with Muskerry crreping up to take the lead, 12-13 on 79 minutes. With the last play of the game, Newcastle West’s Daniel Normoyle proved to the home hero of the game, beating four defenders to touch down with Airey’s conversion adding to the six point victory celebrations.
Richmond and Clonakilty played out a 25-25 draw with Jack Cross the home man of the match. The out-half contributed 12 points with tries coming from Shane Halpin and Graham Kirwan.
St Mary’s continue their good season and they came away from Cork with the narrowest of victories, Sunday’s Well 32, St Mary’s 33. Thomond celebrated with another win, beating Skibbereen 50-5.
Abbeyfeale (pictured) had a big win over Tralee, 48, 12; Ardscoil Old Boys lost 17-24 at home to Waterford City and Galbally-Mitchelstown came away from Killorglin with a 21-15 success.
