CROKE Park will host the 2025 BKT United Rugby Championship Grand Final this Saturday, June 14 at 17:00, as Leinster and the Vodacom Bulls go head-to-head in a blockbuster clash of hemispheres.
What we need is a super game of rugby in a final and we deserve that at the end of a long season..
We do not need a physical confrontation without class or flair. We cannot tolerate a similar game to the Munster quarter final. It was a brutal exhibition of all the bad elements and you certainly cannot entertain a repeat. Parents will take a look back at this game and say: “We do not need our children to play rugby.” I think it was brutal and I have not seen as many black eyes and injuries or cuts at a professional rugby game.
The game ended with player and coaches in an unseemly confrontations after extra time and penalty kicks. We should not be surprised with this behavior we had witnessed after the game. So far there has been no TMO referral about that fixture.
There has been a drop in attendances due to a loss in form of some teams, particularly Leinster, who have been playing their home games in the Aviva Stadium. The loss is very visable.
But it is not helped by the poor quality of the play.
