Limerick junior clubs get back to winning ways

YESTERDAY saw Limerick clubs faring well in the Munster Junior Leagues with Thomond, Newcastle West, St Mary’s. Abbeyfeale and Ardscoil Old Boys registering league wins while Richmond drew.
Richmond 17, Thurles 17: A highly entertaining game at the Canal Bank saw both sides give their best before a good crowd of spectators. Scorers for Richmond were Keith McCarthy, Jack O’Hanlon and Sam Farage scored tries with Jason Kiely kicking the rest of the scores.
Thomond 43, Bandon 0: It was a poor day for the Cork visitors and they were well beaten by a sparkling home side. Scorers of a one-sided game were tries by Joshua Dillon, Evan Maher, Werner Krager, Jason Kiely, Sean Ricce 2 tries and a second from Evan Maher.
Newcastle West 34, Clonakilty 24: The Newcastle West faithful had reason to celebrate aftere this victory having struggled over the lasat few weeks. The West led 13-10 at the break thanks to a try by Sean Murphy and a conversion and two penalties from Shane Airey. The second half was close but NCW held firm with scores from Jason Woulfe and Sean Murphy a try each and some accurate kicking by Shane Airey.

Other results were St Mary’s 24, Skibbereen 20, Abbeyfeale 19, Ennis 18 and Dungarvan 19, Ardscoil Old Boys 29,
