NEW coach Clayton McMillan was impressed with his side’s performance in this first fricnedly of the season after a narrow defeat in Gloucester yesterday. In a hard-fought friendly, it was the Kingsholm side that took the victory with the last play of the game. Andrew Smith got a try which was converted by Tony Butler. and Shane Daly went close to a Munster try. The Irish province will continue their pre-season preparation next week-end when they entertain Bath in Virgin Media Park next Friday night, kick-off 7.00pm.
Both clubs had named two teams (one for each half) with Munster looking to give game-time to as many players as possible.
Academy players Max Clein and Seán Edogbo were among the 31-man squad with new signings Dan Kelly, Conor Ryan and JJ Hanrahan all involved as Kelly made his first appearance.
