Thomond march on in Munster Junior League

THOMOND charge on in the Munster Junior League and they had a runaway result at home yesterday when they ran in 15 tries to a single touchdown for their opponents Richmond. On the scoresheet for the Sodacakes were: Josh Dillon, Evan Maher, Ryan Ahern, Jamie McGarry two tries each and the other touchdowns came from Keelan McMahon, Jason Kiely. Shane Kiely, Eoghan Sherlock, Dean O’Brien and Joe Costelloe. Richmond’s single try came from Ger Meehan.

St Mary’s 34, Mallow 27: This was a cracking game with the Saints taking the five points with a very impressive performance. The Cork side scored first thanks to a well taken penalty but the home side levelled it with a penalty. Some strong pressure resulted in St Mary’s taking the lead when they scored a try and again accurate with the kick. Mallow replied with an unconverted try to bring the score to 10-8 in favour of the Saints and on 30 minutes the Grove Island boys went 17-8 to the good with converted try. St Mary’s dictated the second half and they were full value for their seven point victory that puts them in a comfortable position in division.

Skibbereen 42, Newcastle West 33: A late converted try was to put the game out of Newcastle West’s reach after a thrilling encounter. Scorers for the Limerick side were Aaron Rue, Kieran Copse, Shane Airey and Jason Woulfe with Shane Airey kicking two conversions and two penalties.

Division Two: Kinsale 41, Abbeyfeale 33: In this high scoring game Abbeyfeale fought right to the finish but they were just pipped by their hosts. Scorers for Abbeyfeale were two tries each from Jack O’Sullivan and Jamie O’Sulliven while Kevin Lane also touched down.

Ardscoil Ris 6, Killarney 27: Played in UL Ardscoil Old Boys put up a good display but they were just outplayed by the Kerry side towards the end of the game.
