Thomond, Richmond and St Mary’s march on in league

IT was a good day for three of the city teams in the Munster Junior League yesterday with Richmond, Thomond and St Mary’s carving out victories.
Richmond had to dig deep to get the better of Newcastle West who led 9-17 at the break thanks to tries by Daniel Normoyle and Sean Murhy and two conversions and a penalty by Shane Airey. The West failed to add to their tally in the second half and it was the city side that took the laurels thanks to a penalty try and the boot of Brian Mullins. Result 19-17.

Thomond had a good win over Crosshaven 26-5 thanks to tries from Evan, two from Ken McGrath and the bonus point from Jamie McGarry.

St Mary’s carried on their good form with a 16-11 victory over Bandon in Grove Island.
