Triple Crown secured as Ireland best in classic tie
- Updated: 14/03/2026
Ireland 43, Scotand 21:
It was a cracking start for the Irish and they took the lead after just three minutes when winger Osborne raced over after a fine pliece of running rugby had opened up the defence. Jack Crowley confidently added the extra points. Scotland replied with a try that within minutes when Darcy Graham touched down at the other end and with Finn Russell levelling it, this clash was really hotting up.
Ireland were getting the better of the forwards battle and they went ahead when Dan Sheehan touched down and once again Jack Crowley added the two points. With the clock showing 19 minutes played, Ireland added their third score, this time Rob Baloucoune continuing his try-scoring run but Jacck Crolwy’s conversoon went inches widh of the right-hand post. No doubt Andy Farrell would have been happy with that first half and it wsas all down to the second 40 minutes to win this one.
If the opening half was exciting the second half could be described as unbelieveable. Scotland came out determined to get the first score and they succeeded when Rory Darge got in for a try which was converted by Russll and it was ‘game on.’ It was ding-dong for the rest of the action with the two showing some terrific running rugby and with tries from Darragh Murray,Jamie Osborne and Tommy O’Brien and the accurate kicking from Jack Crowley, the Triple Crown was securely secured
