Munster can expect a frosty reception in Toulon
- Updated: 09/01/2026
MUNSTER will be without their back-rows, John Hodnett and Alex Kendellen, when they line out in Stade Felix Mayol to take on Toulon on Sunday, kick-off 1pm. They will be badly missed and it is another blow to an already weakened bench. Beirne, Casey, Crowley and Farrell all return and they will certainly make an impact in this Investec Pool two clash.
Hodnett required surgery on a thumb injury and Kendellen suffered an ankle injury in the defeat in Belfast and they were not able to return early to take part in the action. Both sides have five points in their pool. Centre Alex Nankivell is fit after a knock, while prop Oli Jager is back in training after a head injury and will be assessed during the week to determine his availability.
Coach Mike Prendergast is confident: “We’ve got a couple of players back obviously, the international lads that were rested, they’re back in situ,” senior coach Mike Prendergast told RTÉ Sport. Oli Jager was back training today as well, which was good to see.
“So we’ll see how they come through during the week, train tomorrow again and then we’ll pick the side during the week, all going well that everyone gets through. In terms of availability, we’re not in a bad position. We’re quite good, which is a very positive thing.”
Weather conditions are varied for the game but the forecast for kick-off is snow showers, around four degrees and frosty.
