Munster leave it late to put away a weakened Gloucester

Munster 31, Gloucester 3
AT the end it was all about a comfortable win for Munster tonight in the unfamiliar suroundings of Pairc Ui Caoimh. Gloucester were the first to score in the third minute. George Barton’s penalty was also the only score of what was a boring encounter until eventually Munster eventually piled on the points on a weakened yet brave visiting side. Munster had to wait to get their score on the board on 20 minutes when Dan Kelly finished off a well-worked attack with Jack Crowley adding the two extras points with the conversion. On 32 minutes the visitors lost a player to the bin, Jamal Ford Robinson shown a yellow card and Munster had a chance to increase their lead on 33 minutes but Jack Crowley’s penalty drifted just wide of the post. It highlighted the error count of the home side in that opening half. With the clock passing the 40 minutes, Munster had a golden chance to increase their lead but they were penalised with the clock in red. Half time, Munster 7, Gloucester 3.
The start of the second half saw Jack Crowley miss touch with a penalty and they also lost possession when the tryline was in sight. On 49 minutes Munster at last broke the barrier, Mike Haley, who had a brilliant game, burst through to touch down but Crowley’s conversion went wide. Going for the bonus points, Munster were now in charge and the game was one-sided. Tries came from Ruadhan Quinn, Tom Farrell and Tadhg Beirne as Munster glided to their target of a five pointer Investec haul.Next up now is a visit to the Ospreys in the URC next week-end.
