Two tries by Luke Costelloe and conversions from Luke Fitzgerald saw the home side lead 14-12 at the break. Newcastle West did themselves no favours with two yellow cards and a Jamie McGarry try and a penalty by Evan Cusack saw the Soda Cakes go through. Newcastle West’s scorers were Daniel Normoyle and Liam Tracey a try each and a conversion and a penalty by Shane Airey.
